The Riehle Lab:
Mosquito Research at the University of Arizona
Performing cutting edge research on mosquito physiology to control mosquito-borne diseases and improve human health
Welcome to our labMosquito borne diseases, such as malaria, lymphatic filariasis, and dengue virus, sicken and kill millions of people every year. We are interested in developing new strategies for controlling mosquitoes and the diseases they transmit. Specifically, we are attempting to understand the basic molecular mechanisms regulating reproduction, innate immunity, metabolism and lifespan in the mosquito. We are also interested in understanding the ecology the mosquito Aedes aegypti, the primary vector of dengue, Zika and Chikungunya viruses, that represent a possible risk to Arizona.
